HO Scale EMD SW7 - Pennsylvania Railroad #9382 (Phase II; Brunswick Green/DGLE)

The WalthersMainline SW7 is the perfect choice for your HO layout, suitable for a wide range of applications from coach and freight yards to primary power for shortlines. Delivering 1200-horsepower from an updated 567A prime mover, the prototypes proved popular with both railroads and industrial lines, with nearly 500 produced in just two years from 1949 to 1951, and several still in service today.

Each layout-ready model is packed with features, including a one-time run of these road numbers, with limited quantity available. The SW7 was used by dozens of railroads and industrial lines for switching, local, and branch line service, with several preserved examples still in operation.

For units built from 1949 to 1950, the model features a Phase One body with arched front cab windows and a louvered radiator cover. For units built from 1950 to 1951, the model features a Phase Two body with straight front cab windows and a wire grille radiator cover.

The model also includes dual tall conical exhaust stacks, a large front radiator grille, and a single straight hood-to-cab transition. It features 6 louvered side doors with a letterboard gap, and factory-installed grab irons on the hood and cab, with or without footboards as appropriate.

The headlight options include 4 styles to match the prototype practice: original large single, retrofit horizontal dual, retrofit dual vertical, and dual sealed beam.

The powerful drive train is the same as the WalthersProto(R) locos, featuring a five-pole skew-wound motor with a 14:1 gear ratio for quiet operation and easy multiple unit operation. The model has all-wheel drive and electrical pickup, with a heavy die-cast metal chassis and constant and directional LED headlights.

The model is equipped with a Next18 DCC plug and Proto MAX(TM) metal knuckle couplers, ensuring easy integration into your layout and prototypical appearance. The RP-25 metal wheels provide the correct size and appearance for an authentic look.
